While street preaching in Washington DC, we ran across a young man named Russel who professed to be a believer. He proceeded to give us exact dates and events when his life changed but proceeded to deny the central truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Kevin graciously directed him to the truth of who Jesus Christ is and what He has done to save His people from their sins, also explaining how the Bible can be trusted.

The Greek word kērussō appears in the New Testament 61 times and is translated as "preach" or "proclaim" in the English Bible. It means "to herald (as a public crier), especially the Divine Truth (the Gospel). Kērussō is used to describe the public proclamation of the Christian message by John the Baptist, Jesus, the apostles, and other Christian teachers. For example, in Matthew 4:17, Jesus begins his ministry by proclaiming, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand". The word kērussō conveys a sense of formality, gravity, and authority that must be listened to and obeyed.
